Flat nose pliers

Jump rings
Flat nose pliers are perfect for aligning open jump rings, hold the jump rings with a pair of pliers either side of the opening and wiggle until the ends click past each other and are aligned. Remember your solder is not for filling gaps so make sure there is no light visible.
Soldering
Keep hold of the jump ring with one pair of pliers and transfer to your third hand, place the third hand where your second pair of pliers had been so that the join is viable and accessible ready for you to apply the solder.
Add flux to the join using a small paint brush, use the same brush to pick up your solder, remember less is more, add the solder to your join, you are now ready to heat the metal and solder the jump ring closed.
